Year 4 were fortunate to be asked to be involved in a exploratory archaeological dig right here on the school site. All 90 children came to school prepared for a dirty job and went, with trowels and forks in hand, to the specified site at the end of our field to see if there was anything of interest.
Incredibly, in just about 1 hour they managed to unearth a range of Roman coins, plenty of Roman pottery and some other items of archaeological interest.
Later, the children were joined by Mr Greenaway, a local expert, who was able to tell them a little about their finds and what they might signify.
Take a look at the photo gallery elsewhere on the site (Children/Photo Galleries) to see them in action and some of the objects they discovered.
