Make An African Mask

Art first task:  read the African masks PowerPoint and create a poster with sketches, notes and printed images exploring the cultural significance and the styles used.

Art second task. EITHER create a paper mask of your own design using one of the YouTube videos

OR make a papier mache mask using newspaper and glue layers over half a cut out milk / coke bottle which could then be painted.

Davesh sent these pictures of his uncle's masks.

African animals

Practice drawing some African animals step by step using this website. Home ( Choose some varied animals like cheetah, meerkat, scorpion, rhino. You can use the diagrams or the YouTube tutorials. We would love to see some photos of your attempts.

Silhouette landscape pictures

We would like to paint or colour a savannah landscape with some African animals in the foreground. Take a look at some of the ones that were done last year in school.

Can you blend some red, then orange, yellow and blue for the sun set sky and have black animal outlines?

Here are some resources that may be useful.
