Loss and Bereavement
Loss/Bereavement
Everyone is affected by Corona Virus and we will have all experienced some kind of loss, for example not being able to see friends/family, having weddings and parties cancelled, school trips, not being able to go to school/work as well as many other things. This is hard for children to understand and the world can be very confusing to them right now. They may be asking lots of questions about why these things are being taken away from them and in some cases, they may have lost a friend or a member of family close to them during the lockdown whether this is due to Corona Virus or something else.
If you have lost a family member or friend during this time, your child may be struggling to come to terms with this especially as they can’t see anyone outside of their own family home.
Winstons Wish have amazing resources to help children to deal with loss/bereavement. They have excellent links on their websites for all kinds of support.
If your child has lost someone close to them during the pandemic please let us know so we can support them when we go back to school.
BBC bitesize have done an article on ‘Six ways to help your child come to terms with lockdown loss’ which gives advice to parents on how to support your child during this time.
