11+ information for Yr 5 Parents

Email received on 20th May 2020 from Paul Hayman, CSSE Chair, including attached letter for information for Year 5 Parents

Dear Colleague

Given the current situation, I have been asked to provide an update on plans for this year’s 11+.

During the past few weeks there have been a number of communications between the CSSE and the DfE and also between the Grammar Schools’ Heads Association (GSHA) and the DfE on this matter.

The attached letter outlines our current position.

Please can you share this with parents in Year 5; it is important that parents register to take the 11+ in the usual way.

Should there be any adjustments to the way the 11+ operates this year, we will communicate this as soon as it is known.

Yours sincerely,

Paul Hayman

Dear Parents and Guardians.

CSSE 11+ Testing for Year 5 children interested in CSSE Schools for September 2021 Entry

In these difficult times, we are grateful to all our primary and secondary school staff for their dedication and commitment. During lockdown teachers and support staff have diligently carried out their duties to ensure education has been ongoing for the children of key workers.

There has been a number of parents who have emailed the CSSE office to enquire about the testing procedures scheduled the Autumn 2020, We are continuing to listen to government guidance on an ongoing basis and would like to offer you some reassurance, even if we are unable to respond to specific questions at this time.

Registration opens on the 19th May 2020 and closes on the 1st July 2020. Registration will commence as published and you are encouraged to register as early as possible. Online registration is continuously available and does not require you to contact the CSSE office. Full guidance and instruction for registering online is supplied in the Guide for Parents 2021 Entry that is published on the CSSE website

There is a link on the CSSE website to all CSSE schools. It is important that you view this information if you are considering applying to CSSE schools in the Autumn 2020 for September 2021 Entry

Information and any updates in relation to Summer Term 2020 open days/evenings will be displayed on each school's website.

At this current time the 10 CSSE schools are exploring a variety of options and the CSSE will duly inform the Grammar School I leads Association (GSHA) of any developments. You should be aware that adjustments may need to be made 10 the usual testing arrangements at local and national level to ensure finalisation of the testing process. All decisions will be made taking account of government guidelines.

The timing of the testing and the issue of safety are being currently considered along with the administration of the test. We are currently unable to give exact dates or timings. When finalised these will be confirmed to primary schools and will be displayed on the C SSE website.

Yours sincerely
