School Opening Update following statement by the Prime Minister
You will, no doubt, have listened carefully to the Prime Minister's announcement on Sunday 10th May and will be aware that there is a government intention that schools might potentially re-open (in our case for Y6) on or soon after June 1st. This would be subject to a continued reduction in infection rates and other national conditions being met.
Since we at the school heard the announcement at exactly the same time that you did, we do not currently have any answers as to exactly how this opening might be implemented. Mildmay Junior School and the Bridge Academy Trust have many questions about the practicalities and sustainability of such a move and are awaiting the extensive guidance from the DFE that has been promised before committing to a firm plan in this regard.
Once the guidance has been received and fully digested, we will work to make sure a carefully considered and manageable plan is in place. Once clear, we will fully inform you all of the arrangements for re-opening.
We have been very grateful during this period for your continued support, patience and understanding and would like to call again on these qualities while we unpick the details of the Prime Ministers announcement and the supplementary guidance.
In the meantime, we will be continuing service as it is with Home Learning and Class contact on a weekly basis and school provision for children of Key Workers based at Moulsham High School.
As has become customary in these times, may I sign off by wishing you well and hoping that your children and families remain safe and well.
