POETRY
THE WINNING ENTRY
Everyday should be Earth Day!
Everyday should be Earth Day!
What would the Earth be?
its blue blue oceans and creatures of the deep blue sea 🌊
Everyday should be Earth Day!
What would Earth be?
Without its crisp cold air and cooling breeze.
Its four seasons
with its sunshine ☀️
with its blossom trees 🌳
with its golden leaves 🍁
with its snow covered streets ⛄️
The Earth is our home and what a beautiful home it can be.
Let’s make Earth Day, every day you and me!
By doing our part to keep Earth clean.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered. Below is a selection of poems we received.
Poetry Competition
Earth Day
by Jane Yolen
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
Each blade of grass,
Each honey tree,
Each bit of mud,
And stick and stone
Is blood and muscle,
Skin and bone.
And just as I
Need every bit
Of me to make
My body fit,
So Earth needs
Grass and stone and tree
And things that grow here
Naturally.
That’s why we
Celebrate this day.
That’s why across
The world we say:
As long as life,
As dear, as free,
I am the Earth
And the Earth is me.
The above is a poem written especially for Earth Day (22nd April). We are running a competition and would love as many entries as possible. Write your own Earth Day poem. Email your entry by Monday 18th May to your class teacher, who will pass it on to me.
Thank you,
Mrs.Murphy.
